Why we added it

One stack, five jobs.

Most home energy systems are a collection of boxes from different makers, wired together on site. SigenStor puts the lot in one modular tower, which is why it installs faster, loses less energy between components and has one app and one warranty.

Solar inverter

The Energy Controller at the top of the stack is a hybrid inverter with up to four MPPT trackers, so an east roof, a west roof and a garage roof can each be tracked on their own. Single phase from 3 kW to 12 kW, three phase available.

Battery

Lithium iron phosphate modules of 6 kWh or 9 kWh that stack under the controller, six deep, to 54 kWh. Two modules wall mount; more stand on the floor. DC coupled, so solar goes into the cells without an extra conversion.

EV charging

An optional DC charging module in the same stack, 12.5 kW or 25 kW, charging the car straight from the roof or the battery. Vehicle to home and vehicle to grid on cars that support it, which is rare in a home system.

Backup

With the Sigen Gateway the house switches to the battery in a power cut with no interruption at all, and there is a generator input for the rural case. Without the gateway it works as a normal grid tied system.

Energy manager

The AI in the mySigen app learns how the house uses power, watches the weather forecast and your tariff, and decides when to charge, hold and discharge. It supports time of use tariffs such as Octopus Agile out of the box.

The install

Modules click together on a rail with no cabling between them. On a typical house the stack is on the wall in a morning, and adding a module later is a short visit rather than a rebuild.

The quality

Built like commercial kit, sized for a house.

The things that decide whether a battery is still doing its job in year twelve.

Cells and protection

Lithium iron phosphate throughout, the chemistry with the best thermal stability in home storage, with cell level monitoring and multi layer electrical protection in each module. Modules are IP66, so dust and driven rain do not reach the electronics, and they are rated to run from minus 20 to plus 60 degrees.

  • LFP cells, no cobalt, no thermal runaway characteristics of NMC chemistries
  • IP66 rated modules and controller, mounted outside or in
  • Passive cooling with no fans to fail or hum
  • Ten year warranty to 70% capacity, extendable to fifteen

The company behind it

SigEnergy was founded in 2022 by Tony Xu, who ran Huawei’s solar inverter business for a decade and took it to the largest in the world. The company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in April 2026 and was the largest battery brand in Australia by installed capacity in 2025. Around seven in ten of its staff work in research and development.

  • Founded 2022, headquartered in Shanghai, engineering led
  • Publicly listed, so the warranty is backed by an audited balance sheet
  • Sigen Cloud connects to grid flexibility platforms in 19 countries and 81 energy companies
  • Sold in the UK through MCS certified installers only

Aggregation

A battery that can earn while you sleep.

This is the part of SigEnergy’s design that most home batteries cannot do. Sigen Cloud has an open interface that lets an energy supplier or flexibility operator group thousands of SigenStor systems into a virtual power plant, and pay their owners to charge or discharge for a few minutes when the grid needs it. The response takes about a second and a half, and you switch it on or off in the app.

Day to day the same intelligence reads your tariff, the weather and your habits, fills the battery when electricity is cheapest and runs the house from it when it is dearest. As UK suppliers open more flexibility schemes, a SigenStor is already built to join them.

What the app does for you
  • Learns the household pattern and plans each day against the forecast
  • Charges from the grid in cheap windows on time of use tariffs such as Octopus Agile
  • Holds a reserve ahead of a forecast power cut when the gateway is fitted
  • Shows solar, battery, house, car and grid live, updated every ten seconds
  • Joins a virtual power plant when a scheme is available, and leaves it when you say

Grows with the house

Start with what you need now. Add the rest when the car or the heat pump arrives.

Year one

A 5 kW or 8 kW controller with one or two 9 kWh modules on the wall covers most evenings for a family home, and takes the solar straight in.

The car arrives

Add the DC charging module to the stack and charge at up to 25 kW from the roof and the battery, faster than any home AC charger, with vehicle to home on supported cars.

The heat pump arrives

Add modules, six deep, to 54 kWh, without touching the inverter. Winter running on a cheap overnight window becomes the normal pattern.

How we install it

Surveyed, designed, certified.

The same method as every solar and battery job we do.

1. Free survey

Roof, consumer unit, where the stack would sit, your real usage from your bills, and whether the car or a heat pump is coming. A straight answer if a smaller battery, or a different one, suits you better.

2. Design and quote

Controller size, module count, whether the DC charger and the gateway earn their place, and the network operator application. An itemised quote with the MCS performance estimate. No prices on this page because every stack is different.

3. Install and hand over

Our own team, usually a day with the solar. MCS certificates for the battery and the solar, the electrical certificate, the G98 or G99 acknowledgement, the app set up on your phone, and the warranty registered in your name.

Who it suits

Right for some houses, not all of them.

We install three battery ranges and we say which fits.

SigenStor is the pick when

  • You want one system for solar, battery and the car
  • You expect to add storage later, without replacing the inverter
  • You are on, or moving to, a time of use tariff
  • You want a battery that can join grid flexibility schemes

Look at the alternatives when

  • You want a single 13.5 kWh unit with the inverter inside and a long track record, see our Tesla Powerwall 3 case study
  • You are adding a battery to an existing inverter and want the simplest retrofit
  • Budget is the first constraint and a smaller fixed capacity does the job

Housing providers and commercial

Three phase controllers, stacks that scale, and a cloud platform built for fleets make SigenStor a strong fit for multi unit schemes and small commercial roofs. We survey and price site by site.

FAQs

SigEnergy questions, answered

Is SigenStor MCS certified?

The SigenStor products are MCS certified, and Energy Giants holds MCS certification for battery storage and solar PV, so every installation gets its own MCS certificates, which is what export payments and most funding require.

Can it be installed outside?

Yes. The controller and the battery modules are IP66 rated and specified for outdoor mounting, from minus 20 to plus 60 degrees. Most of ours go on an outside wall near the meter position.

Does it work with my existing solar?

Usually. The Energy Controller can take existing strings directly, replacing an older inverter, and it can also sit alongside another inverter on the AC side. We check at the survey which is the better route.

Will it keep the lights on in a power cut?

Only with the Sigen Gateway fitted, which switches the house to the battery with no interruption. Without it the system shuts down with the grid, as the regulations require. We quote the gateway as an option.

Can I charge the car from it?

Yes, with the optional DC charging module in the stack, at 12.5 kW or 25 kW, and on cars that support it the car can feed the house back. That is a rare feature in a home system and one of the reasons we added SigEnergy.

What is the warranty?

Ten years on the battery and the controller, guaranteeing at least 70% of capacity at year ten, and it can be extended to fifteen. The gateway carries five years. Our workmanship is insurance backed through Bluedrop.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the controller size, the number of modules and whether the charger and gateway are included, so we do not publish a price. Our cost guide gives indicative ranges for whole systems, and the survey gives you an itemised figure.

Is it available for housing providers?

Yes. Three phase controllers and fleet management through Sigen Cloud suit multi unit schemes, and we deliver battery and solar programmes for housing providers with PAS 2035 coordination in house.
