Zoe is an AI, not a person, and she says so. She answers the chat on this website, helps us keep on top of enquiries and helps us draft some of our articles. Yes, the surname is a joke. The job is not.
Why we built her
Zoe went live in the summer of 2026. Homeowners tend to research solar, batteries and insulation in the evening and at weekends, when our office is closed, and a contact form that waits until morning loses people.
The timing was down to agentic AI. Earlier chatbots could only answer from a script. Agentic AI can carry out steps: follow up an enquiry, check a task has been done, and pass a conversation to the right person with the details already gathered. That made an assistant genuinely useful to a small installer, rather than a gadget.
What Zoe does, and what she never does

How Zoe has evolved
- Summer 2026Zoe goes live on the chat across our website, answering questions out of hours and passing enquiries to the team.
- September 2026The chat now waits until you have made your cookie choice before it starts, so it never appears in front of the consent banner.
- October 2026Zoe helps draft some of our lighter articles, such as event previews and news explainers. Each one carries a byline that says it was written with Zoe, our AI assistant.
- NextWe will publish how many conversations Zoe has handled, and how many came in while the office was closed, once we have a full set of figures.

Zoe tells you she is an AI. Articles written with her say so in the byline.
Anything about price, suitability, design or funding is decided by our team.
Savings, outputs and prices come from published sources or from a survey of your home, never from a guess.
You can ask to speak to someone at any point, and a phone number is on every page.
Responsible AI
We have registered our interest in Manchester Metropolitan University's Responsible AI SME Charter.
The Charter is a two-day programme run by the university's ChallengeAI team for Greater Manchester businesses. It helps a business put responsible AI practices in place, and ends with a Bronze, Silver or Gold Charter Mark. We will update this page when we have taken part, and say which mark we have been awarded.

The chat on our website is provided by MessageMind. What you type is used to answer your question and to pass your enquiry to our team. Please do not share bank or card details in the chat. We will never ask for them there.

It is a joke at the expense of the tech industry. She has no connection to any real person or company of that name.

No. Prices come from our team after a survey, because every roof and home is different. Zoe can take your details and book you in.

It is AI that can carry out a series of steps towards a goal, such as following up an enquiry or checking a task is done, instead of only replying to a single question.
